Target Species

Japanese Hops

Family:  CannabaceaeGenus:  HumulusSpecies:  japonicusSynonyms:   Humulus scandens

Growth Form:  Vine

General:   Annual, herbaceous, twining vine forming mats, plants either male or female, flowers mid to late summer.

Flowers:   1/4 in. wide, green, located at stem branches

Fruits and Seeds:   1/4 in., scaly, light brown when mature.

Leaves:   Deep green, deeply divided into 7 lobes.

Stems or Branches:   Twining, green, hairy, alternately branched.

Distribution:   Native to Japan. Established in NE, SE, and Midwest U.S.
